Happy Christmas from ESPN Racing-Live!
|
ESPN Racing-Live.com would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the best for the coming year!
And what a year it has been for motorsport. Formula One has been typically interesting both on and off the circuit. Lewis Hamilton, one of seven winners this year, has become the youngest ever Formula One World Champion in the history of the sport. Sebastien Loeb dominated the World Rally Championship with no less than 11 victories to claim his record breaking fifth title. The Intercontinental Rally Challenge saw Nicolas Vouilloz crowned while it was that man – Valentino Rossi – who triumphed once again in MotoGP.
Off track we have had the Max Mosley scandal, some dubious calls from the F1 race stewards and more recently the world-wide recession that has affected us all in one way or another. In Formula One, there was the shock announcement earlier in the month from Honda regarding their withdrawal from the sport. Audi have slimmed down its ALMS and LMS programmes while both Suzuki and Subaru have opted to pull out of the WRC.
While there may be a lot of doom-and-gloom in the news at the moment, we have been treated to some mesmerising racing and 2008 will undoubtedly go down as a classic season. Here at ESPN Racing-Live.com, we will continue to provide our readers with plenty of news, rumours and reports as well as new additions for what promises to be a fantastic 2009 season.
Merry Christmas!
