Randy Krummenacher won the last race of the Spanish Open and the last race of the season at Jerez de la Frontera!
After a hard but fair battle, Krummenacher beat the Spanish Champion Efren Vazquez with a couple of tenths on the finish line and gave the team the first victory of the season. Jerry van de Bunt broke down in the 11th of the 16 laps' race
Randy Krummenacher didn't have the best start and, in the first lap, found himself in 4th position after his pole position. In the second lap the leading group was made of 4 riders and, in this lap, Krummenacher managed to move up to the 3rd position and two laps later Krummenacher passed Pere Tutusaus and took over the second position.
Together with Efren Vazquez Krummenacher made a gap to the other riders and battled for the victory. In the 12th lap Krummacher passed Vazquez and grabbed his first victory in a Spanish Open Championship race!
“Pffff, this wasn't an easy race”, he commented.
“I really had to go for it to take the victory. Luckily I succeeded and I'm really happy! This season wasn't the best season of my career but the last two Spanish races with my new team for next season were really fantastic. Everything went well those two weekends and the bike is also super. In the race the bike of Vazquez had a little bit more top speed but I was faster on the exit of the corner and that's why I had to work hard to pass him. I can't wait now for the next season to challenge in the 125GP World Championship with my new team and the Aprilia. I want to thank the team for the last two weekends and at the moment it feels that I'm part of the best team in the world!
Jerry van de Bunt had also problems at the start and moved back to the 36th position. Van de Bunt tried to close the gap to a group in front of him but didn't succeed and had to ride alone. Five laps before the finish the engine seized and the race was over for the little Dutch teenager.
