Hector Faubel is likely to be riding Honda machinery in the 250cc class next season, with the Spaniard revealing that a deal with the Stop and Go structure in the quarter-litre class is imminent.

The former 125cc World Championship runner-up will thus leave behind the Aspar team for whom he has competed in the past five seasons.

“Things are being finalised, and for me it is very exciting to think that I might be an HRC rider”, says Faubel on his plans for 2009.

Stop and Go´s Eduardo Perales has stated that an agreement is expected to be signed within the next fortnight, with a factory Honda machine updated and with a new engine awaiting the Spanish rider should he put pen to paper.

“I think that the adaptation will be fairly straightforward; at the end of the day it´s just another bike with two wheels like any other. We will have the entire winter ahead of us, with a lot of tests, so I don´t see any problem”, adds Faubel on the subject of trading in Aprilia for Honda machinery. “I don´t know what will happen after five seasons together with Jorge (Martinez `Aspar´) but it´s a new experience and a new challenge.”

A move to the prospective new team would see Faubel partnering current Stop and Go rider Ratthapark Wilairot in a two-rider outfit.
