British rookie Scott Redding made history in his Grand Prix debut two weeks ago, already showing the promise that led to the Blusens BQR Aprilia team bringing him into the World Championship.

Redding lined up in fourth place on the 125cc grid after a fine qualifying performance in Losail, the youngest rider to ever take a Grand Prix front row spot at the age of just 15 years and 65 days.

In the race itself, the Briton pushed for a podium spot in an exciting duel with Mike di Meglio and fellow underdog Stefan Bradl, eventually finishing behind the duo. With this result, Redding also set a new record for the youngest ever top five finisher.

“I´m very happy with this result, and also with my race strategy”, said the rider whose amazing conclusion to the 2007 Spanish Championship inspired his early move to the world stage. “I knew that I had to have a cool head to not put a great fifth place at risk”, explained the youngster, aiming for further success at the more familiar track of Jerez later this month.

“Not even in our wildest dreams could we have expected Scott to do so well, so soon. His quality is undoubted, but to finish so highly so soon is tremendous”, eulogised Ricard Jove, General Manager of the team.
